I have a MBP and use the above model Dell monitor via the Display Port out to DVI. For a while the 2mp webcam on the 2309w worked, although I had to reset the computer if I unplugged and replugged it in. Now it won't recognize the web cam at all.
Help! Is this something that probably broke with 10.6.5 or is there something else that may have changed? And no, Dell does not have an OS X driver that I can find. Nor is their 'support' much help.

I rarely believe that an update breaks things, except in a case like yours. I think there were a bunch of security fixes with 10.6.5, and it's possible it shut down an open port or something that allowed your webcam to work. And without a driver to run it, it may be impossible to work. To be honest, you have a better webcam on your MBP, and it integrates perfectly with a huge number of programs. You might have to give up on that Dell monitor's webcam.

First of all, you need download the latest drivers file. If it is a executive file, you can install it by simply double clicking the file. If it is a zip file and you can not find a installer in the archive, you can install the driver by following instruments below. Try these steps if the image on an external display connected to your Mac is blank or doesn't look the way you expect. Before you begin You can resolve many display issues by updating the software on your Apple devices, cables, and adapters. Re: SP2309W and Mac First off, my problem was that I needed to reboot the computer after attaching the usb cable. Also, I'm using ecamm iUSBCam which I believe is required to use USB-based cameras like this.

Connect your audio out from behind your monitor to aux in on your desktop. Then you can have audio coming out on your speakers that you already have for the desktop.

What mobo do you have, and also what USB speakers? you'll most likely have a mic-in that doubles as a line in. You should be able to hook up your PS3 to it.

You have a line-in on your mobo, you could connect it to the AUX-0ut on your monitor and get the HDMI sound from your PS3 (its not great quality on my 2408wfp though). I can't say though if you'll get the input from your onboard sound with the USB device selected as default sound device. Its probable you'd need to have the onboard as default, which would limit you to the analogue or optical outs on the mobo to connect speakers to. Do your speakers have any input other than USB?

Nope they were like £7 very cheap but they do a decent job.
the PS3 has Optical Out and AV Multi out, could either of these be used to connect to the PC for sound from the PC to be played through the PC speakers?

Its unlikely with the USB speakers. You can use the audio portion of the AV out (red and white) and connect it to the line-in on your onboard, you'd probabally still have to have the onboard sound set as default though to hear it which would turn off the USB speakers.
